Netsai Mushonga

Netsai Mushonga is currently working as a consultant in different areas such as Women, Peace and Security (WPS), human rights, gender mainstreaming as well as elections management.

From 2016-2022 Netsai was a Commissioner responsible for gender issues with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission where she was appointed in July 2016. Comm Mushonga worked as a senior manager for the Centre for Conflict Resolution in Cape Town, South Africa. She supervised the gender and peacebuilding project that was implemented in 8 countries around Africa. Previously she was the National Coordinator of the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe from 2003-2013. She coordinated and led the campaign for the Domestic Violence Act between 2003 and 2005. She also led advocacy, capacity building and awareness raising during the 2009-2013 constitution making process. Comm Mushonga is an expert in gender and peacebuilding and conflict resolution, women’s rights, gender and masculinities having carried out participatory training on the same in Africa, Asia, MENA region and USA.
