Mr. NGENDAHIMANA is a Human Rights activist and Peacebuilder and Founder of ISOKO for Peace and Gender Equality. Mr. NGENDAHIMANA holds 17 years’ experience in program management, monitoring and evaluation in the fields of peacebuilding, security, conflict prevention, and women and children’s rights. He has consulted with various multi-lateral, governmental and non-governmental organizations, including GIZ, NIMD, IDASA, CARE International, UN-Habitat, Karuna Center for Peacebuilding, and the Ministry of human rights, and also served as a Steering Committee member on the UNSCR 1325 and National Policy on Gender in Burundi. Christian began his peacebuilding career as a trainer and program officer at Search For Common Ground, where he developed peacebuilding, reconciliation and community development programs.  In 2006, he co-founded and later served as Executive Director of Fontaine-ISOKO, a human rights organization in Burundi focusing on peace, gender equality and community development.  Christian’s work has focused on developing innovative programs which engage women and men in partnership to promote peace and gender equality.  He has initiated and led many regional multi-sector programs in the Central-East and Horn of Africa, including the NGO Working Group on Women and Youth for Peace and Security, the Youth Engage Program, and Men Engage approach.  Christian holds a degree in Sociology from Tanganyika Lake University and holds many certifications, including as a Peacemaker by the Peace, Healing and Reconciliation Program (Nairobi Daystar University), Women Peacemakers Program/International Fellowship of Reconciliation (Netherlands) and by the Coalition for Peace in Africa (Kenya).  Christian currently lives with his family in the United States.
